A-Z glossary of PageSeeder concepts

Representing documents in PSML starts with defining the sections. These act as containers for fragments, which in turn, hold the actual marked-up text, graphics and more.

One way to conceptualize the role of a section compared to a fragment is to think of a PSML document as a building. If this were the case, the section would be the foundations and the fragments would be the furniture. In most buildings, the furniture can be rearranged but changing the foundations is not possible. So it is with PSML. In the event that different sections are required, create a new document type and migrate the content from the existing document type.

Through the document template, sections have unique identifiers (IDs) and can be addressed by a URL

In PSML, sections are represented using the <section> element.
