# Moderated group

A group with the [role](role.md) of [moderator](moderator.md) assigned to a member. PageSeeder then directs different transactions to the nominated individual for approval. Transactions that can be moderated are: anyone applying to join the group or comments being posted to members.

A moderated group is typically used when comments can be posted by non-members – also known as a “[public](group_public.md)” group.
