# Edit note label

Edit note [labels](labels.md) are attached to a [note](edit_note.md) made on a document edit.

Since these labels are attached to notes on a given edit, they won’t persist after the [fragment](fragment.md) has been edited. To apply a label to a fragment that persists after edits, use a [fragment label](fragment_label.md).
