# Comment ID

There is a unique system-wide generated identifier for every PageSeeder [comment](comment.md).

## Email addresses

The *comment ID* can provide a return address for emailed comments:

## Comments, tasks and discussions

The comment ID is a useful way to reference tasks from outside PageSeeder. For example, when using project management tools such as *Jira* or *Bugzilla*.

The ID of the first comment in a [discussion](discussion.md) or a [task](task.md) is also known as the “discussion ID” or “task ID”.
